Tend to Your Team: The Attuned Manager Series
Part I: Self-Awareness & Self-Regulation
Supporting great supervisors is one of the highest-leverage investments an organization can make. And yet many managers find themselves in leadership roles without the support and training they need to thrive.
At Tend Collective, we approach management development through a trauma-informed lens. That means starting with a simple but often overlooked truth: the way we lead others is shaped by our own histories. Our past experiences, at home, in previous jobs, in past relationships with authority, inform how we react under pressure, how we give feedback, how we handle conflict, and how safe (or unsafe) the people around us feel.
This first session in our Attuned Manager series introduces two foundational skills from our "7 Skills for Attuned Managers" checklist and toolkit:
Self-Awareness: Learning to recognize your own patterns, triggers, and default responses as a leader, and understanding where they come from.
Self-Regulation: Building the capacity to pause, stay grounded, and respond intentionally instead of reactively, even in high-stress moments.
Together, these two skills form the base layer for every other management competency — from delegation to difficult conversations to team culture-building.
What to expect:
We'll guide you through the common barriers that get in the way of developing these skills (many of which are more structural and cultural than personal), as well as the practical facilitators that help them stick. Expect a compassionate, practical session designed for real workplace application.
Why it matters:
Attuned managers build thriving teams. When leaders understand themselves first, they're better equipped to support the people they manage, which shows up in stronger retention, better collaboration, and healthier organizational culture overall.
